"Changing Beauty" at the Armory
(NEW YORK) Who knew the Park Avenue Armory would be one of the haute spots in town during NYFW? Tommy Hilfiger showed his men and women's collections there this season, transforming the space into a park in the process, and last night the sprawling venue was the setting for "The Ever Changing Face of Beauty," a video installation by photographer Sølve Sundsbø unveiled for a crowd of more than 600 hundred guests. (Get outta town, right?!)
W's Stefano Tonchi, in partnership with Joanne Crewes, President of Global Prestige, P&G hosted the installation, which featured two five-foot tall screens representing woman (that would be Lara Stone, cheris) and man, each exploring the consequences of global evolution in beauty. "It's a bit overwhelming. I didn't expect it to be so big," said Stone. "It's one of the coolest things I've ever seen!" How did this collaboration come together? Pretty simply, on the supe's end, at least. "I just went to work and they told me what to do," Stone quipped.
Guests enjoying Belvedere vodka—will be able to drink anything else post-NYFW?—included Cate Blanchett, Evan Rachel Wood, Sienna Miller, Chris Evans, Alberta Ferretti, Daphne Guinness, Martha Stewart, Shalom Harlow, Joseph Altuzurra, Cindi Leive, Felicity Jones, Giovanna Battaglia, Renzo Rosso, Adam Senn, and Diane von Furstenberg. (We couldn't possibly list all 600! Sorry, loves.) DvF was downright ecstatic taking in the installation, as she gushed about Sundsbø "It's so poetic and beautiful," said von Furstenberg. "I think he's the most talented photographer right now." Next up: DvF is off to Paris with her granddaughters for some shopping ("We're bringing empty suitcases!") to celebrate her latest killer collection shown on Sunday.
A few select guests (Blanchett, of course!) carried on for dinner and Dom Perignon at The Mark where Raf Simons made an appearance, and ended up staying when he found out that Virgine Mouzat was going to be his tablemate at din. (What were those two laughing about so much?). Guinness made a mad dash for the door when she found out she couldn't be sat where she wanted to (We're sure she was just rushing home to catch Glee), and lovebirds Jason Wu and Gustavo Rangel were good sports about spending their Valentine's dinner at separate tables. Look for Sundsbø's stunning pics of Stone in the March issue of W!
